Kairotic Delta-Flex Trace Lifter

Designed and field-tested in New Zealand since 2024, the Delta-Flex is a flexible hydrofoil wing engineered to lift your sinkers and trace clear of the seabed on the retrieve — whether you're running an electric reel, manual wind, or anything in between.

Unlike rigid trace lifters, the Delta-Flex is made from our specialised marine grade flexible material — saltwater tested for two years in real New Zealand conditions. At just 2.5mm thin it slices through the water rather than fighting it — no bulk, no drag, just lift. Solid construction throughout — no air pockets, no hollow sections, just dense flexible material that handles whatever the NZ coast throws at it. The wings dynamically respond to water pressure. At slower retrieve speeds the wings flex naturally to present maximum surface to the water. As speed increases they flatten into a true hydrofoil profile, reducing drag and sustaining the plane. On a calm day you can watch it tracking on the surface on the retrieve.

The wing is back-weighted by design, so the nose naturally wants to rise the moment it's under tension. Combined with the sinker weight below, the correct angle of attack is built into the rig geometry itself — no tuning required. It self-adjusts across a range of sinker weights automatically.

How It Works — Think of Flying a Kite

A kite doesn't need to be enormous to generate serious lift — it just needs to be presented to the wind at the correct angle. The Delta-Flex works on exactly the same principle, except water is doing the work instead of wind. The wing is back-weighted so the nose naturally wants to rise under tension, and with your sinker hanging below it the rig geometry automatically sets the correct angle of attack — no tuning required. Water pressure acting on that angled surface generates lift, and the flexible wings self-adjust as your retrieve speed changes, transitioning smoothly from a lift foil at slow speeds to a streamlined hydrofoil profile at faster retrieve speeds.

We've had it planing on the surface through the surf with a 30cm snapper still on the line — that's how much lift this thing generates.

Field tested across sinker weights from 4oz to 24oz on the Standard wing. The XL Delta-Flex has been independently tested lifting a 750g anchor.

Important Note

The Delta-Flex is a hydrodynamic wing — it requires forward movement to generate lift. It will not hold a sinker up at rest. When retrieve stops or a fish takes and fights toward the bottom, the wing will naturally drop and streamline with the rig — this is normal and expected behaviour. Unlike a rigid alternative it flexes rather than catches, so it's not going to cost you a prize fish by getting caught up on structure. That's fishing. What it will do is get your sinkers up clean every retrieve and reduce the time spent dragging bottom between bites.
